3 Quick & Easy Meals For When You’re Off The Grid

June 14, 2019

We compiled a list of easy meal ideas for your next camping trip. So, before you head to the grocery store to stock up, read up on some of these tasty dishes!

Campfire Scrambled Eggs

You can’t forget about breakfast! That’s why first on our list is campfire scrambled eggs. Probably the simplest of the three dishes, scrambled eggs can be eaten any time of the day. Some simple ingredients you will need:

  1. Eggs
  2. Diced Ham
  3. Shredded Cheese
  4. Salt & Pepper

Before putting your skillet over the fire- scramble your eggs then start adding the other ingredients. We recommend cooking in a cast iron skillet, this way if you are worried about overcooking your eggs, most cast-iron skillets keep the heat long enough after being put over the fire to cook your eggs thoroughly. Finally, season to your liking and enjoy!

Cast Iron Pizza

Another easy cast iron dish is a homemade pizza! Not only is this delicious, but a fun evening activity for the entire family. But what will you need? Typical ingredients include:

  1. Pizza Dough (refrigerated)
  2. Pizza Sauce
  3. Toppings
  4. Cheese

The first thing you will need to do is oil your cast iron pan, this will help cook your crust and not let it stick. The important thing to remember when making a pizza over the fire is making sure you cook your crust all the way through. An easy way to do this is cooking your crust FIRST and even flip it on the other side to make sure it’s nice and crispy! Once you finish the crust you can then move on to the sauce and toppings. Once you create the pizza just how you like it, you then warm it over the fire till the toppings are melted. Then, your pizza is ready to enjoy!

Grilled Cheese

Of course, we had to add the classic grilled cheese to our list! This is another quick and simple dish that can be made on a cast iron pan in minutes! Here are the ingredients you will need:

  1. Bread
  2. Cheese of your choice
  3. Butter

First, you must prep the bread by buttering the outsides of the slices. You then stick the cheese in the center of the buttered slices of bread (butter facing out). Now your sandwich is ready to be cooked, lay it on the pan and cook to your desire. An easy way to spice up this sandwich is by trying out different cheeses or adding a piece of meat like ham!
