Are you looking for new places to fish but don't want to travel too far from home? We’ve compiled a list of five places near Carroll that have great fishing locations before the season is over.
Twin Lakes State Park
Located in Rockwell City, Iowa, Twin Lakes State Park is a great place for 24-hour fishing opportunities. If you’re bringing the whole family, they offer a sandy beach swimming area, a paved trail, and a modern playground. There are no restrictions on boat engines and major featured fish include bluegill, channel catfish, crappie, and walleye.
Springbrook State Park
Springbrook State park is located in Guthrie Center, Iowa and has many activities for the whole family. There are 12 miles of trails, a swimming area, camping grounds, and picnic areas. If you’ve only come to fish, you have the opportunity to catch crappie, largemouth bass, bluegill, sunfish, and catfish.
Spring Lake Park
A popular camping spot, Spring Lake State Park is also a great place for fishing. Located in Jefferson, Iowa, this park is home to a 50-acre lake with 2.2 miles of paved trails as well as wooded hiking trails. Some popular fish found in this lake include bluegill, channel catfish, and largemouth bass.
Prairie Rose State Park
Prairie Rose State Park offers a variety of outdoor events for the whole family but is also an excellent fishing spot. Located in Harlan, Iowa, this park offers two boat ramps for easy access to the lake. You can find bass, channel catfish, bluegill, and crappie here. There are six fishing jetties and two fish cleaning stations to make for an easy fishing experience.
Cold Springs Park
Cold Springs Park is located just south of Lewis, Iowa. While it is only 104 acres, it is packed with fishing, picnicking, and camping opportunities. There’s a wide variety of fish in the lake, including bluegill, channel catfish, green sunfish, largemouth bass, and redear sunfish.
